Flower Rings
I revisited an previous ornament design and decided to develop and refine it. I have taken a flat design and added some shape and a central setting to hold a stone. The addition if enamel to the petals adds colour of the flower. I want to work on a series of ornaments to represent each season. This one is for summer.

Jewellery from the heart design.
Once I'm happy with how my designs are developing in print I then think how my designs will best be interpreted into metal. One of my favourite ways of working with 2D designs is to use them for etching patterns into metal. I have tried various methods and I find the best results for intricate work is achieved by using Press 'n' Peel.
This is my design printed onto Press 'n' Peel.
This is one of the etched plates.
With this project I etched the design onto an extremely thick brass plate. I use the plate in conjunction with my rolling mill. I can then roll as many sheets of the pattern as I need.
My rolling mill and some of my workshop
Two practice pieces of copper. I have used aluminium and gold leaf to pick out the pattern.
After trying out different ways of transferring the pattern and seeing if that pattern can stand up to further manipulation I created the piece you see below. The pattern has been used to decorate the outside of the box. All the stones on the ring and the box are interchangeable.

Heart design development
Working with foil and gold leaf I have been looking at different effects I can achieve with the repeat pattern. I print out the designs gold leaf them then reprint over the gold leaf. I use toner foil on its own and in conjunction with gold leaf.
